The Imperial – Hue Backpackers Hostel

Situated in Pham Ngu Lao Street, a quiet cozy street during the day and a popular dining and recreational destination come nightfall, the Hue Backpackers Hostel is perfectly located to explore the many sights that Hue has to offer.

The Hue Backpackers’ Hostel in housed in a beautiful, colonial building at number 10 Pham Ngu Lao Street. The wide verandas on the 2nd and 3rd levels are the first thing you notice about the building that was originally built in the 1930′s. They are perfect for kicking back ‘n’ reading a book, sipping on an ice cold Vietnamese coffee or an even colder “Huda Beer” as you settle in to the relaxed pace of Hue.

Located below the rooms, on the ground floor is the “Club House Restaurant and Bar” where you can get big, tasty meals, ice cold beers and soft-drinks at backpacker friendly prices while chilling out listening to some tunes. Or get on Facebook and start catching up with your travelling buddies and friends back home with our free Internet for all hostel customers.

Getting there

Many of the tourist buses coming from Hanoi or Hoi An drop off within 1km of the hostel, and the train station is only 2km away. A taxi from any of the bus drop offs should cost no more than 15,000VND while a taxi from the station should set you back approximately 30,000VND.

Phu Bai Domestic Airport is about a 25 minute drive from the centre of Hue. Airport Shuttles ($2.50US/person) and Taxis ($12-$15US) are available from the arrivals terminal.

A hassle free airport transfer can be arranged from as little as $15US for a 4 seat car or $17US for a larger 7 seat people mover. To have us arrange a driver to meet you when you arrive at Phu Bai Domestic Airport use the contact form to the right to send your flight details.

Be aware: some shuttle and taxi drivers operating from the airport, train and bus stations accept commissions for taking unsuspecting travellers to budget hotels that claim to work with us.
It is hard not to notice our bright yellow facade and hostel sign, so if the shuttle bus or taxi stops directly outside a hotel that doesn’t hit you in the face: you have been taken to the wrong address.

If you find yourself in this situation decline politely and make your way to the DMZ bar on the corner of Pham Ngu Lao and Le Loi Streets where you cannot miss our hostel sign.

Our cozy female dorm room consists of 5 sets of incredibly comfortable bunk beds which sit atop spacious lockers, ensuring all luggage can be stowed away safely. A wall mounted lock box with power point to charge phones, Ipods and other stuff, while they are securely locked away. There is a night-light too for your convenience.

The room contains an ensuite with shower, toilet and basin, as well as undulating fans and an air conditioner to guarantee a peaceful nights sleep on those hot and sticky Hue evenings.

A large mirror hanging on the wall enables up to 3 ladies at a time can check their appearance before they head downstairs for happy hour.

With air-conditioned accommodation we also include continental breakfast & internet.

Spacious lockers underneath the bed ensure you can stow your luggage away safely. A side bar on the top bunk offers added protection for the restless sleeper who is prone to falling out of bed.

Air con and oscillating fans guarantee a comfortable nights sleep.

Breakfast and internet are included in the price, as well as access to our ever popular Club Hour (drink specials for hostel guests only from 5pm to 6pm) that provides a great opportunity to mingle with other backpackers and exchange travel experiences.
