Downtown – Hanoi Backpackers Hostel

Located in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, The Downtown Hostel is close to delicious street food, cheap Bia Hoi (fresh beer), pumping bars and is a short walk from the Original Hanoi Backpackers’ Hostel near St Joseph’s Cathedral.

Our Bar & Restaurant serves delicious comfort food, pizzas, pastas, burgers and some of Hanoi’s favorite street foods. There are nightly festivities to keep you entertained and our happy hours will keep you back pocket happy too.

Getting there

The hostel is a 15 minute walk from the Airport shuttle stop located at 1 Quang Trung St and approximately 1.5km from the Hanoi Train Station.

Hanoi International Airport is approximately 45min to 1 hour from the centre of Hanoi. Airport shuttles ($3US/person) and taxis ($16-$20US) are available from the arrivals terminal.

A hassle free airport transfer can be arranged from as little as US$23 for a 4 seat car or US$25 for a larger 7 seat people mover. To have us arrange a driver to meet you when you arrive at Hanoi International Airport, please use the contact form on the right to send your flight details.

Be aware, some shuttle and taxi drivers operating from the airport, train and bus stations accept commissions for taking unsuspecting travellers to budget hotels that claim to work with us.

The Downtown Hanoi Backpackers’ Hostel is unmistakable with its large, blue, neon sign above the sliding glass doors stating “Hanoi Backpackers’ Hostel”, as seen in the photos. If the shuttle bus or taxi stops directly outside a hotel that does not have this, you have been taken to the wrong address.

If you find yourself in this situation, decline politely and make your way to Ma May street where you can ask one of the local shops or restaurants to point you in the direction of our hostel.
